You wake up and say:
“Tonight will be different.”
You mean it, too.
But by the time evening rolls around, the same pull is there.
The same negotiation starts.
“Just one.”
“I’ve had a long day.”
“I’ll reset tomorrow.”
And just like that… you’re back where you said you wouldn’t be.
The Cycle No One Talks About
If this sounds familiar, you’re not broken.
You’re not weak.
And you’re definitely not the only one.
This exact cycle —
drinking → regret → promises → repeat —
is something a huge number of men in midlife are quietly dealing with.
On the outside?
Everything looks fine.
Career ticking along.
Family responsibilities handled.
Life… on paper… is good.
But internally, there’s a constant tug-of-war.
Part of you wants to stop or at least take control.
Another part keeps pulling you back in.
And the hardest part?
You don’t talk about it.
Why It Feels So Hard to Change
Most men don’t struggle because they lack willpower.
They struggle because:
- They’re trying to figure it out alone
- They’ve normalised drinking for years (or decades)
- Alcohol has become their go-to stress relief
- They think they “should” be able to control it — but can’t
That creates a quiet kind of frustration.
You start questioning yourself.
You lose trust in your own promises.
And over time, that wears you down.
The Turning Point Most Men Miss
Here’s what I’ve seen time and time again:
The breakthrough doesn’t usually come from:
- Another promise to cut back
- A burst of motivation
- Or beating yourself up
It comes from something much simpler — and far more powerful:
Realising you’re not the only one.
When you hear other men saying the exact thoughts you’ve been having…
When you see that this struggle is shared…
Something shifts.
The pressure drops.
The shame eases.
And for the first time, change starts to feel possible.
Why I Run These Free Sessions
That’s exactly why I host these monthly Zoom sessions.
Not as a lecture.
Not as a programme.
And definitely not as something preachy.
It’s just a space where:
- Normal guys show up
- Honest conversations happen
- And no one has to pretend they’ve got it all sorted
Some speak.
Some just listen.
Both are completely fine.
What matters is this:
you’re no longer stuck in your own head with it.
This Month’s Session
We’re meeting again on:
Thursday 11th June at 7:30 PM (BST)
If You’re Reading This…
This session is for you if:
- You’ve been questioning your drinking
- You’ve tried (and struggled) to cut back
- You’re tired of the stop-start cycle
- You’re fed up with the mental noise around alcohol
You don’t need to:
- Have a plan
- Be ready to quit completely
- Or even say a word
You just need to show up.
One Small Step
You don’t have to solve everything this month.
You don’t need a perfect strategy.
But you can take one simple step out of the cycle —
and into a space where things start to make a bit more sense.
If that sounds like something you need right now:
You’re not the only one dealing with this.
And you don’t have to keep doing it alone.
